ActionCOACH Canada Challenges Canadian Business Owners to Make a Difference
ActionCOACH Canada ML Greg Kopchuk challenged his fellow business owners to make more of a difference in their communities.
EDMONTON, AB, February 22, 2011 /Coaching - Mentoring PR News/ -- At a recent workshop, in a speech entitled "Making Sales & Giving Back," ActionCOACH Canada ML Greg Kopchuk challenged his fellow business owners to make more of a difference in their communities.
"Just before Christmas, I held several small business seminars to benefit the Hope Mission in Edmonton. This week I went down to the mission and handed over a cheque for $458.18. So what?"
"Well, that amount will feed 168 people. It's not a big deal, but if every Edmonton-based business gave a similar amount to the Hope Mission, they'd never have to ask the public for supplies again. There are a lot of problems in life we can't solve. Hunger isn't one of them. In a city as wonderful & as blessed as Edmonton, there's NO excuse for even one Edmontonion to be hungry. Ever."
During the Q&A discussion, Kopchuk was asked what small business owners can do--the ones that don't have the resources of a large company.
"Everyone can do something," he replied. $458 isn't a lot of money, but it's a start. I realize that, for very small companies, every penny counts. They may not be in a position to give a lot. I get that. But Edmonton is a big, thriving town, with thousands of businesses growing year after year. What would happen if they all gave even 1/2 of one percent of last year's profits to charity?
I'll tell you what. The Hope Mission would never have to turn away anyone who needed a free meal. All those places that help people when they really need it....we can help them. Life is tough enough. Let's start with the solvable problems. The Hope Mission does great work & it's so easy to help them."
