Pat Nakashima Celebrated for Professional Longevity in Education
Pat Nakashima was presented with an Academic Palm in 2008 by the French government for encouraging the study of French.
SAN JOSE, CA, March 26, 2010 /Coaching - Mentoring PR News/ --Pat Nakashima, Retired French and Spanish Teacher for San Jose High Academy, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in high school language instruction.
Prior to her retirement from San Jose High Academy, Pat Nakashima garnered over 37 years of professional experience in the field of language instruction. Best noted for her ability to teach French and Spanish to high school students, Ms. Nakashima was honored with the Hal Wingard Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007 for outstanding contributions to education. This past year, she was presented with an Academic Palm by the French government for encouraging the study of French - an achievement of which she is especially proud.
Ms. Nakashima, who made the decision to focus on language arts early on in her career, notes that the decision afforded her the unique opportunity to travel and improve her language skills. She credits the success she has enjoyed to familial support as well as the encouragement she received from her mentors and peers. Never one to rest on her laurels, Ms. Nakashima currently manages a craft class geared toward senior citizens. When she is not volunteering in her community, she enjoys golfing and watercolor painting.
An alumna of Stamford University, Ms. Nakashima earned a master's degree in education in 1965. She is professionally affiliated with the Silicon Valley chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League, the Foreign Language Association of Santa Clara County, the California Retired Teachers Association, the American Association of Teachers of French, and The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Zeta Phi Chapter.
