As Founder of the Community Medical Foundation for Patient Safety, Dr. Smith has routinely exhibited the passion, vision and dedication necessary to be considered among the best.
The Community Medical Foundation for Patient Safety is an active learning organization dedicated to patient safety, outreach and education. The organization champions the qualities of leadership, vision, community, knowledge, innovations, compassion, values, and competency as essential qualities of the 21st Century healthcare system and organization. Dr. Smith has over 35 years of experience in business, academic teaching, and research, including 15 years in health care. She was evaluator on numerous National Cancer Institute research grants at MD Anderson and principal investigator on state grants to develop educational materials healthcare professionals.
Dr. Smith has authored six books and over 40 peer-reviewed articles in healthcare, psychology and business. She has performed graduate-level teaching in business including organizational behavior and theory, organizational development, communications, motivation, and productivity at Rice University, University of Houston Clear Lake, Houston Baptist University, and the Air Force Institute of Technology.
