Donna L. Welsh-Fontenot, Case Manager & Life Coach, Finds Fulfillment in Helping Others

With 15 years of diversified experience, Donna Welsh-Fontenot is known as a life coach, professional gospel singer, songwriter, playwright and motivational speaker. She currently works as a case management counselor for the San Francisco Housing Development Corporation, where she helps underprivileged families move towards self-sufficiency by developing their life skills. Her responsibilities include coaching dual-diagnosed families and assisting them with first-time home ownership, assisting the unemployed with referrals and job interview preparation, helping those either in drugs or on recovery with behavior modification and treatment planning, and counseling the mentally ill and referring them for more intensive treatment if necessary.
In addition to her work for the San Francisco Housing Department Corporation, Ms. Welsh-Fontenot works as a life coach and counsels individuals on life skills, healthier lifestyles, marriage enrichment, and relationship enhancement. Frequently, she delivers motivational speeches in jail systems and offers life skills training for incarcerated women in San Francisco. She also runs Tasty Meals On Wheels, her own restaurant, and works as a sales representative for ACN, a distributor of digital electronic products and services. Ms. Welsh-Fontenot attributes the success that she has enjoyed in multiple fields to her personal experience, relish for facing challenges, and faith in God, which has given her the strength and motivation to help people in need.
Ms. Welsh-Fontenot received her Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology in 2005 from the New College of California, her Master's Degree in Life and Experience in 2005 from Belford University, and her Bachelor of Science in 1974 from Van Nuys College. She became a certified life coach in 2008 through California Healthy Marriage & Relationship Enrichment from Saints Community Project Coalition. Recognitions with which she was honored include staff awards from True Hope Church of God in Christ (2008, 2003), an award from Catholic Charities (1999), and a first-place public speaking award from the National Forensic League (1969). Additionally, she was included in the Honor Roll of San Grogonio in 1971 and was declared American Legion Student of the Year in 1967. She gives generously to The Riley Center. In five years, Ms. Welsh-Fontenot plans to move away from case management and focus more on life coaching.
