Sherwood Edwards Named to Exclusive Membership Organization
Cambridge Who's Who honors Sherwood Edwards in sociology and research methods
GLEN ELLYN, IL, June 6, 2009 /Coaching - Mentoring PR News/ -- Sherwood Edwards, Professor of Sociology and Research Methods for the College of DuPage, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of higher education.
Originally set on becoming an attorney to protect the voiceless, Dr. Edwards discovered that he had a natural aptitude for teaching. He thus made the transition and began his career as an educator 32 years ago. A professor at the College of DuPage since 1987, he is recognized as an authority on sociology and research methods. His responsibilities include coordinating with internal and external committees, developing curricula for sociology, and teaching classes on introductory sociology, sex, marriage and family, racial ethnic minorities, and social research analysis. In addition to his work for the College of DuPage, Dr. Edwards is an adjunct professor at Northern Illinois University. He attributes his success to his focus on his goals and commitment to giving his students the tools they need to become successful individuals.
Dr. Edwards completed his Doctorate in Adult and Continuing Education in 2005 at Northern Illinois University. He is a member of the Illinois Articulation Initiative, the State Universities Retirement System of Illinois, the Kettering Foundation, the Mathematics Association of America, and the American Sociological Association. Passionate about the study of ancestry, Dr. Edwards looks forward to traveling to Africa to symbolically return a relative to her homeland. He aspires to have the trip documented by HBO.
