Elementary Educator with 44 Years of Professional Experience

Ms. Smith had an unprecedented 44 years of professional experience in the education field before her retirement in June 2008. As an elementary educator at Edinboro Elementary School, she specialized in utilizing interdisciplinary approaches to teach students, incorporating families into school projects and developing curriculum. She notes that she became involved in her profession due to the inspiration she received from her own teachers and considers working with students and their parents on a mini society project to be the undisputed highlight of her career.

She received her Master of Education from the University of Pittsburgh and is a member of the General McLane Education Association, the Pennsylvania State Education Association and the National Education Association. She stays current with the trends in her profession by reading industry-related publications and aspires to work as a consultant in the future.
